I went to see...Oh Hello and I saw it their last night on Broadway I went to see it, it was the night before I went here (St Andrews) and I had seen nothing but UCB shows all week over winter break then I went and saw Oh Hello and then the next morning I was in St Andrews and I was like, 'What the hell am I doing here? I live in New York City and I go to Scotland and I want to be a comedian, like why would you ever leave?'
14 May 2017: Eloise Lobenthal and I chat all things comedy and what it means to pursue your true passion. Have a listen!
Reflections on My Conversation: My chat with Eloise was one of those ones that I am so so glad I had because it revealed so much about Eloise that I had no idea existed! We talked about it for most of the conversation, but somehow or another I never knew that comedy played such a big role in her life and is what she wants to do growing up! How did I miss that?? But regardless, I'm glad I got to sit down and chat to her about it. There is so much pressure on young people to establish a financially-secure routine as soon as possible. By the time you graduate at 22 years of age all of a sudden you are supposed to have a well-paying 9-5pm job that makes sense to other people. But what I love about my chat with Weez was the reminder that that is total bullshit! Not only do you not need to have it figured out, but you don't have to follow the path that people generally deem acceptable or stable. As Eloise was saying, regardless of the profession be it law or comedy or anything in between, people all over the world are working so hard at what they do and that hard work is commendable no matter its focus. I can't wait to watch Weez go on and make people laugh for a living if that's what she chooses to pursue and I'm very thankful for the reminder to 'follow your dreams' - as cliche as that sounds - despite that pressure to conform.
